Janet Zanutto

Art Therapy and Community Development

Janet attended CPSI as a Spingboard for Educators participant for one year and as a Youthwise program facilitator for three years. Her daughters are both past CPSI YouthWise participants and her oldest daughter was also a junior wing. She grew up in an educational context that embraced the same principles as CPSI. Discovering CPSI as an adult felt like coming home.  It has acted as an annual respite from the constraints often imposed by institutionalized learning. Janet is an artist and photographer.  She particularly enjoys photographing dancers in the outdoors. She also takes advantage of any opportunity to learn traditional crafting from Indigenous elders and community members and can make drums, moccasins, baskets and ribbon skirts.

What Janet will miss the most about in-person CPSI is THE FOOD.  She thinks about that salad bar and breakfast buffet all year round.  What she’s looking forward to this year is being able to participate!  While there is no substitute for in person connection, online CPSI allows for people like Janet, who don’t have the financial means to attend every year, to have an opportunity to facilitate and connect with some of the most kind, interesting, enthusiastic and forward thinking people in the world!
