Ambiguity Tolerance: Life's Hot Sauce. Put that s$%# on everything.
Uncertainty sucks.  It's fair to say the world is steeped in uncertainty.  Most people hate uncertainty, and seek closure. In fact, people who are unconsciously primed with ambiguity remain more steadfast to their original position.  Creativity is always uncertain. If you can build your muscle memory to face uncertainty in creativity, it will come easier in other situations.

Creativity can build resilience through Tolerance of Ambiguity.  Higher tolerance of ambiguity is linked to all kinds of great outcomes, like increased well being, increased complex problem solving, creativity and critical thinking.

Let’s face ambiguity together with exercises designed to make you think “now what?” yet demand that you make a choice.  Get out of your comfort zone and be okay with not knowing the answer.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Mindfully recognize the feelings of uncertainty, and experience the courage of moving forward anyway.
  • Notice the connections between facing uncertainty in creativity, and facing uncertainty in other areas of your life.
  • Recognize how decisions in uncertainty affects your willingness to consider something new.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Recognize how much ambiguity can affect opinions.
  • Illuminate attendees’ comfort in tolerance of ambiguity – or lack thereof.
  • Recognize how a creative practice can build tolerance of ambiguity.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Recognize and mitigate the impact of ambiguity when having discussions and negotiations.
  • Use a creative practice to build tolerance of ambiguity, stress inoculation and resilience.
  • Choose from 7 ways to increase tolerance of ambiguity, for happiness, productivity and superpowers. Just kidding on the superpowers. Or, am I?

Seeing Conflict Differently
Come see and learn ways to do conflict differently. Scared of conflict? Find ways to engage in difficult conversations with more ease. Love conflict? Find ways to engage in difficult conversations where people will hear you more effectively. Ever had a conflict with someone? Find ways to get through the next one faster and with fewer loose ends. In this workshop, we’ll look at our own relationships with conflict, learn some conflict theory, and practice ways to navigate conflict.

Often we create because of, around, and through conflict. Instead of being debilitated, aggressive, repeating arguments, or pretending it doesn’t exist, you’ll have tools and ways to do conflict differently.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Understanding your personal relationship to conflict.
  • Develop new ways of seeing conflict in your life (personal and professional).
  • Plan out new ways to navigate conflict
How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Awareness of your attitudes toward conflict: your history, automatic style, and expanded possibilities of communication during dissension.
  • Acknowledging your emotions and learning from them in order to keep connected to your brain’s creative center.
  • Learning some skills of constructive conversation so you can participate in elegant and creative solutions that work for your life.
How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Daily conflict applications with self and other.
  • Can use conflict management with your family and at work.
  • Reduce time consumed by guessing what to do.

Your Social Style is Showing -- 4 Keys to Better Storming
Did you know 80% of our communication with others is non-verbal? Recent research in the field of creative problem solving reveals our communication style -- the ways we interact with others in collaborative settings -- is directly linked to our creative thinking style. And much of our behavior, especially under creative tension, sends conflicting signals to teammates. What if our creative energy is being misinterpreted when we collaborate? How do we harness the untapped creative potential resident in our teams if we don’t recognize what each other is really trying to say?

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • In this highly interactive session, we will explore the four Social Styles: learned behaviors rooted in a desire to approach challenges in specific and creative ways.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • We will uncover the specific types of conflict that are helpful or toxic to group creativity, and how our social styles enhance or derail effective collaboration.
  • We will act out common scenarios to deconstruct how our communication styles can either hinder or bring out the creative best in your team.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Come prepared to learn how to improvise, flex your habitual communication styles, and share your own insights to fuel collaborative breakthroughs.
Note: This session will be using Mural. Check out our practice Mural board ahead of the session to be ready to participate! https://bit.ly/CPSIMural

Combining Appreciative Inquiry and the Science of Creativity to Amplify Your Practice
Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is a proven methodology that focuses on the strengths of the organization and encourages a team to co-create the future they desire. It is ideal for the volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world we are facing today. This session explores how to combine  AI methodology and Creative Problem Solving (CPS) tools in both your personal and professional life.

Kim will share practical stories describing how a positive, strengths-based approach has helped organizations of all sizes achieve faster and better outcomes. This 90 min workshop will provide participants with time to experience AI methodology and explore specific ways to use it to enhance engagement, leverage collaboration and come up with actionable outcomes. The combination of these concepts can add a powerful dimension to your practice and will open up new best practices that are supported by extensive academic research.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Experience Appreciative Inquiry (AI) as a strength-based, creativity approach
  • Learn how to combine AI and CPS in organizations facing a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world
  • Master an AI tool that can help your organization reframe problems as opportunities when the situation calls for this.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Learn how looking at the same topic as an opportunity rather than as a problem can open up new thinking and engagement.
  • Explore how a positive approach can transform a CPS facilitation into a life-changing experience.
  • Re-energize your CPS practice with new tools to open up deeper connections and faster outcomes.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?

Expanding Your 20/20 Vision by Looking
A few years ago, James Gilmore put together observational tools where “looking” in various ways is a fundamental innovation approach.  He views “looking” as a neglected skill that helps to inform and provide insights about innovation.

In this workshop, we will explore each of the six Looking Glasses or Lenses that Jim outlines in his book:  Look:  A Practical Guide for Improving Your Observational Skills.  We will practice each of the looking glasses on a topic, experience the use of these six glasses in a virtual way, and show how the Six Looking Glasses can improve your 20-20 vision in a practical way.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Provide background on Jim Gilmore’s Six Looking Glasses.
  • Improve observing skills with tips on how you can use this in a virtual environment so that your vision goes beyond 20-20!
  • Have a practical experience using Six Looking Glasses.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Explore observation by using six different glasses or lenses to improve observational skills for innovation.
  • Use of simple tools to stretch your vision and go beyond mere 20-20 vision.
  • Spending time to observe, anytime, anyplace, virtually or in person because you never know what observations will lead to innovation.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Expanding the toolset of observational research for professional and personal purposes, including using these tools virtually.
  • Worksheet on what each of the Six Looking Glasses are and how they might be applied, in person and virtually.
  • Use of a practical, virtual example to show how Six Looking Glasses can be applied.

Creating the Vision for Your Future
The book of Proverbs says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” The Ghanaian proverb says, “The poorest person in the world is not the one without money, but the one without vision.” The difference between the winners and the “also ran” are the visions and powerful images they create about their future.  This is true in athletics and it is even more important in life.

Whether you are 16 or 60, having a compelling vision for your future is absolutely vital for success and health. Research on aging has found that those individuals who have a higher sense of purpose live healthier and longer lives. In this session, you will:

Learn how to craft your life and design your future. Take the long view for your future to move beyond the day-to-day tactics that may keep you in the past. Leave with a vision of your future and specific actions you can take to propel you toward that future.

Please come to this session prepared with the following:
  • Several sheets of 8/12 x 11 paper
  • One large sheet of paper if possible. If not available then at least a legal size page
  • Pen or pencil to write with
  • One rubber band
  • Several different colored markers, colored pencils, etc.  (You will be drawing a vision map.)
  • The attached file, printed and ready to go

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • You will learn to apply a repeatable system to help you to create your future even through challenging times
How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • This program will help you to "see over the horizon" in your life to recognize and attract the circumstances and people that will help you to actualize your amazing future
How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • In the session, not after the session, you will apply research validated techniques that you can use to create your future.

“The question is not what you look at, but what you see.”
Henry David Thoreau

Observation of the space around oneself and one’s surroundings enables us to discover new perspectives. Utilizing virtual tours of famous Frank Lloyd Wright structures, we will artistically explore design elements. In this session, we will integrate the role of the arts as a way of aesthetically transforming physical place, spirit, and self. Through reflection and arts exploration, we will identify personal and professional growing edges.

Art projects such as drawing, sound archeology, painting, modeling, space configuration, photography, video filming, and more participatory art techniques will inform our discovery process (need not be an accomplished artist to participate). As we identify our personal objectives and artistic styles, we will see more clearly the ways in which we can chart a pathway to the future.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Observe and employ art appreciation as a way to grow self-understanding.
  • Explore ways in which others create vision for the future and transform spaces to apply the vision.
  • Use the metaphor of architectural space usage to understand self.
  • Value the points of view of others in the group.

The Coddiwomple, Fun-Filled Creative Thinking for Education (Part 1)
NOTE: This is part one of a two-part session. Catch part two on Tuesday June 16 at 3:00 PM EDT.
This session will be open to the first 48 people who arrive in the Zoom meeting.

To “coddiwomple” is to walk purposefully towards a destination as yet unknown. Education tends to be linear, regimented, structured with little room for imagination or creative thinking. Creativity isn’t a school subject which can be assessed but is ignited when people are playful and childlike.

Using a hybrid of CPS and Design Thinking we have developed a highly interactive, playful methodology (coddiwompiling) for education at all levels (9 years olds to those studying at PHD level). The coddiwomple uses language and exercises that make our methodology understandable for younger audiences.

In this workshop we will share the first steps (empathy stage) of the coddiwomple experience as we guide you through the tools, techniques and exercises that we use to open minds, spark imagination, inject playfulness and unleash creativity in formal education settings.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Experience the Coddiwomple methodology and tools used in the empathy stage
  • Discover new approaches to unleashing creativity and imagination in education
  • Take time to wander a bit as you explore a challenge

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Understand the transferable nature of the coddiwomple methodology and the possible ways to use it with a range of audiences
  • Foster greater creativity in those you work with
  • Be more playful and open when working on new challenges

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Inspire others to apply their imagination
  • Use the tools and techniques learned in your own setting

Virtual Story Techniques for Creative Collaboration (Part 1)
NOTE: This part one of a two-part webinar. Catch part two on Wednesday, June 17 at 3:00 PM EDT.

As Einstein said, “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.” Stories are an easy way to tap into the imagination to develop a vision. Story-based techniques also help leaders convey a vision and bring their teams along.  During clarification, stories build empathy for users and make sense of data. Facts answer the “what.” But stories illuminate the, “so what.” This session explores story-based techniques for crafting a vision and clarifying the problem through interactive, virtual exercises.
You will experience a variety of facilitation techniques and tools to incorporate stories into innovation and creative problem solving. Join us to share stories while you learn techniques like:
  • Guided Imagery*
  • Snowball Pair and Share*
  • Story Boarding
  • Consumer Narrative Continuum
  • Story Listening*
  • Campfire story circles

*Simulation exercises

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
We will use story-based activities to:
  • Deepen insights and build empathy.
  • Help a team develop a shared vision.

Virtual Story Techniques for Creative Collaboration (Part 2)
NOTE: This part two of a two-part webinar. Catch part one on Wednesday, June 17 at 12:00 PM EDT.

As Helen Keller said, “The most beautiful world is always entered through imagination.” This session will continue the exploration of how story techniques apply to CPS. Stories spark the imagination and get creative juices flowing. Story-based techniques during ideation help to generate ideas that have more emotional context and empathy. They also put people into a playful mood to enhance creative thinking and imagination. Stories can also keep the spirit of the original idea alive when guiding teams through development, prototyping, and testing. Storytelling can help teams stay inspired and keep stakeholders on board. This session will explore story-based techniques for ideation, development, and managing stakeholders through interactive, virtual exercises.
You will experience a variety of facilitation techniques and tools to incorporate stories into innovation and creative problem solving. Join us to share stories while you learn techniques like:
  • Empathy Story Stimulus
  • Campfire Story Circles*
  • Storybox Ideation*
  • Six Word Stories
  • Stories to Keep Development on Track*
  • Concept Development with Story
  • Pitching with a Story

Mindfulness: Your Creativity Superpower
These are extraordinary times. Even before the pandemic, we were experiencing a period of accelerated change, which has suddenly, and without warning, expanded exponentially. Navigating these turbulent times requires we all find ways to tap into our creative potential.

At the heart of our individual and collective creativity is our ability to see something from a different perspective, imagine what doesn't yet exist, or bring together what has been apart. But how do we open ourselves up to imagine and re-imagine; to make those unlikely connections and to be available to see what wants to emerge? And how do we find clarity and composure in the midst of ambiguity and uncertainty?

The answer lies in Mindfulness: a state of focused attention that is open, present, and non-judgmental. Mindfulness is a creativity superpower. It allows us to expand our awareness of all that is around us and within us, and it creates space in our usually overcrowded consciousness for new ideas to come in. Mindfulness is like a creativity welcome mat.

In this highly experiential and interactive workshop, we will explore the concept of Mindfulness, what it is, how it works, and some of the benefits and outcomes, for both individuals and organizations. We will practice a set of powerful Mindfulness tools and techniques, appropriate for both novices and experienced practitioners, and you will have the opportunity to use the skill of Mindfulness in a creative context. And as a bonus, participants will receive weekly follow-up exercises to keep them engaged in the practice and moving forward on their journey.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Participants will be able to:
    • Cut through the noise, and gain more clarity in all aspects of their lives.
    • Navigate ambiguity, complexity, and change with more grace and ease.
    • Become less reactive, build resilience, and maintain greater levels of composure.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Participants will be able apply mindfulness to:
    • Creativity: Mindfulness helps create the space and time that lets creativity flourish.
    • Relationships: Mindfulness strengthens our capacity to connect at all levels, and it opens our hearts and minds to the beauty of a diverse world.
    • Ourselves: Mindfulness supports our ability to stay centered within ourselves, and connected to what matters most, even in turbulent times.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Learn how you can grow, evolve and become a better version of yourself in service of your team, organization or industry.

Your Creative Wellness
We all want to be healthy, happy, and feel like our lives have meaning, but unfortunately, we often lose our way over the course of our lifetime. We may consistently put off our inner peace, joy, and contentment. We may fall in old habits that we have difficulty getting out of.

Jeremy and Will will demonstrate that the embracing of a creative lifestyle can have a positive impact on wellbeing, based on current research. They will also share the working hypothesis—that in the same way that creativity can be trained, so too, can wellbeing. They will share plans for future research that will hopefully validate this perspective.

Using experiential techniques such as guided art creation, ideation, implementation planning, and guided visualization, Jeremy and Will will help you to experience the benefits of creativity, flow, and relaxation, which are correlated with higher wellbeing. The intention is to create a workshop experience that catalyzes all participants to take their wellbeing into their own hands.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Learn about the statistically significant relationship between wellbeing and creativity.
  •  Experience how you can use your creative power to unlock your wellness.
  •  Generate their own ideas for how you can improve their wellbeing with creativity.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  •  You will leave this session with your own ideas for how to embody creative behaviors and increase your wellbeing.
  •  You will be given an opportunity to experience relaxation, creativity, and flow, which can be used as reference points to refer back to when you are caught up in the chaos of life
  •  You will also leave with take home materials that will reinforce the key learning.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  •  You will be exposed to groundbreaking research regarding the important relationship of creativity and well-being.
  •  You will be guided through art creation and ideation which allows you to experience and plan for how to incorporate creative wellness into your lives.
  •  You will experience meditation and visualization to help allow space for conscious incubation. This way you can see and experience the wellbeing you wish to take forward in your lives.

Building the Dream Team with Cognitive Diversity Appreciation
Is your team’s productivity at a standstill due to personality clashes or cognitive differences amongst the team? Do you have great ideas, but are hesitant to share them with your team? Do you or members of your team struggle to feel valued for your diverse perspectives, or find it difficult to be your authentic self? Are you in a leadership role and eager to build a “Dream Team” of individuals who have amazing ideas, robust perspectives, and a vast collection of cognitive strengths that will help your organization increase productivity, ingenuity and overall create a safe and brave space for individuals to feel valued and appreciated within a team construct?

If your answer is “yes” to one or more of these questions, there are no worries!  This workshop is for you! Cognitive Diversity Appreciation or CDA is a theory that empowers individuals to cultivate an innovative and inclusive environment within their organizations and foster their ability to be creative change agents in our global society. CDA was also designed to educate participants on the effects of productivity, when individuals are encouraged to be their authentic selves, and share their unique perspectives while appreciating the different viewpoints of others within their team. Such goal setting promotes social justice within a team construct, ingenuity, and proficiency.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Participants will take part in workshop activities where participants will be able to obtain a working understanding of how to build their ideal organization “Build the Dream Team” using Cognitive Diversity Appreciation or CDA and identify their own unique cognitive strengths and how they can incorporate them within their organizations.
  • Participants will acquire the creative tools necessary to cultivate an inclusive environment using CDA within their organizations where participants can exercise the BRAVE model in their organizations.
  • Participants will be able to learn about FourSight’s cognitive profiles that helped develop Cognitive Diversity Appreciation Theory using the Teamwork Questionnaire.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • To educate participants on the effects of personality types and productivity among teams.
  • To  encourage and empower individuals to be their authentic selves, and share their unique perspectives while appreciating the viewpoints of others within their team.
  • To promote organizational goal setting which  promotes growth, ingenuity, and proficiency within a team construct.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Participants will be empowered through CDA to show their authentic self, express their creative and innovative personality, share their ideas, and perspectives with team members around them in their unique organizations.
  • Participants will be able to apply CDA to identify their cognitive strengths, leadership ability, and creativity as it relates to their organization’s mission goals, or academic discipline.
  • Participants will be able to apply CDA and the BRAVE Model through demonstrating the appreciation of diverse perspectives, ideas, and capabilities through simulated activities.

Open, Curious, Listening : Practices for Leading In "Interesting Times"
As humans, individual leaders spend a lot of time believing that they are:
a) doing all they can (or are doing 'enough', or are 'meeting expectations');
b) already see the leadership challenges clearly; and
c) understand what they need to do.

Beyond these biases of thinking and self perception, leaders also experience significant change/ innovation/creation challenges both conscious and unconscious to them.  The popular "change" press is littered with stories and statistics on leaders who couldn't change their own patterns, couldn't engage successfully, strategically, effectively around a needed, fundamental and organizationally critical change, while also describing how people who work with them DO see and know of leader shortcomings.

In this session, we'll explore some basic behavioral approaches, questions, "hacks" that will help you see yourself more clearly, engage with important others around you more effectively, and help you to set important priorities in service of greater, bigger, better outcomes.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Engage with other participants around individually and collectively important identity, performance and leadership questions.
  • Engage in these questions with disciplined and rigorous inquiry.
  • Through the presented material and engagement with others, create insight on biases, blind spots, gaps, and implicit assumptions.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Identify some habits/patterns -- for him/herself -- that each might wish to shift.
  • Build each participant's "tool box" of inquiry/ questions in working with others.
  • In practicing inquiry with others, create the experience of mindful listening for each participant.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Set a plan/ intention around one new habit/pattern to change -- with one person or in one situation - that will be valuable for the participant (and others).
  • Create a connection with another for follow up and practice, to keep the learning active after the session.
  • Identify one important priority outcome for focus and follow up.

Vision Lab: What You See Is What You Get
Whether you're reading this on your phone, or your laptop what you're looking at is a screen. Without looking up, how many different colors surround you? Now check to see how accurate you were. Next, think of how many notifications you have waiting, and the number of unread emails. Now, check those. Were you more aware of what was on your screen, than the color that surrounds you?

Notifications alert us to business-related responsibilities and social media-driven likes. They tell us what's important now. They also screen out the rest of what surrounds us. I've been thinking about how to counter the way our attention is pulled towards certain things and away from others. This session will explore labyrinth walking as a way to remember and pay attention to what's most important to us.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Participants will spend time reflecting. We'll talk about what we already do to live from a place where what we hold dear is more important than any notification.
  • We'll consider what gets in the way of finding and keeping perspective amid so much distraction--Covid-19 driven and otherwise--and share practices that help.
  • We'll look at labyrinth walking as a resource that allows our intuitive and creative selves to remember what's most dear. The last 15 minutes of the session will be spent "walking" a finger labyrinth.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Walking a labyrinth supports our ability to be mindful and look at problems creatively.
  • Labyrinth walking is calming and can help reduce stress and anxiety.
  • Walking a labyrinth helps you redirect your energies so you can live a richer life.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • There are hundreds of labyrinths in the country, perhaps thousands throughout the world. Folks will leave with a working sense of how to use them to inspire change and renewal in their lives.

The Life Changing Power of Curiosity
Follow your curiosity to create foreseeable and unimaginable possibilities for yourself and others!

This interactive online session is based on Van's recent TEDx Talk, recalling a personal family story of how following curiosity in a refugee camp created an unimaginable future for her family and thousands of Vietnamese refugees and immigrants over the last four decades.   Using interactive tools, we will bring to surface something you have been curious about, but maybe have pushed aside because of challenges, fear of failure, or fear of success! We will then walk through the framework of “following curiosity,” “asking what if?,” and taking small steps towards that curiosity to create possibilities -- even possibilities we cannot see!

We will conclude by creating an ARTifact to represent the wildest possibility that can be imagined if you choose to follow your curiosity.

Please bring the following supplies to this session:
  • White paper or art paper (3-4 sheets)
  • Pen
  • Colored pencils, crayons, or markers

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • A simple framework for recognizing your curiosities, and following them, without overwhelm.
  • An opportunity to use your imagination in a hands on art project.
  • A short lesson in the power of taking small steps towards a goal with reference to the neuroscience behind small steps.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • We often ignore our curiosities. This session will give you a tool to take pause before you dismiss an idea or curiosity.
  • For those who get easily overwhelmed, the lesson of taking small steps will give you a new lens on how to look at projects.
  • Creating the mindset of possibility, and the ripple effect that following our curiosity could lead to.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • This can be applied to daily life.
  • The formula can be passed on to others.
  • Facilitators can utilize some of our tools in their own work.

Feeding the Future: Food Security and CPS
Food insecurity is prevalent and is only expected to get worse due to the effects of climate change.  If we are to use CPS to help alleviate food insecurity, data must be gathered from a diverse set of perspectives.  By using simulations, we can gain new perspectives and be better prepared to formulate challenges and discover these crucial solutions.  Each person will be given a 1-acre plot – represented with paper cut outs – with the vision of feeding 500 children.

What will your challenge statement be?  How can you turn resistors into assisters in order to succeed?  A mindset of deliberate creativity will be crucial to success.  Prepare to leave with the insights of a new perspective and fresh ideas on how you can be a part of the solution for food insecurity.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Participants will learn about farming and our food supply.
  • Participants will learn what can affect the strengths and weaknesses of a food system.

How Might I “Re-open” After the Quarantine? (A Collaborative Journey on Mural)
Note: This session will open at 8:45 AM EDT and will be open to the first 25 people who arrive in the Zoom meeting.

Join us on Mural, a collaborative digital platform, to distill our personal and collective insights and imagine new opportunities as we start to come out of COVID.

Like a fairy tale, we will take an imaginative visual journey, pausing at 5 guide posts: The Globe, The Cottage, The Fire, The Satchel and finally, emerging through The Re-opening. At each stop, there will be questions and activities that invite personal and collective reflection. We will use design tools to make sense of our experiences during this crazy, unprecedented time.

The Globe: We will all look back on these months and say it was a time when…
The Cottage: Some of my personal bright spots during this time were…
The Fire: One thing I am happy to leave behind and burn in the fire is…
The Satchel: The things I want to carry with me post quarantine are...
The Re-opening: My opportunity is…

What will you learn or experience as a result of this session?
  • You will experience how to collaborate digitally in an engaging visual way.
  • You will have an opportunity to reflect on your own quarantine experience and appreciate the experience of others.
  • You will walk away with a “how might I…” to guide your personal re-opening.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • This session will help you reflect on what you learned during the quarantine, what you want to toss into the fire, what you will carry with you.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • You might discover some silver linings of the quarantine and how to carry them forward
  • You might decide that digital collaboration can be equally imaginative and fun as face-to-face.

Envisioning a Successful Transition
In our constantly changing world, we go through many transitions over a course of 5 years. Job changes. Life changes. Relationship changes. Family changes. This list could go on and on, especially during the Corona virus pandemic.

A while back, William Bridges came up with a model to help individuals and organizations to help people with change. In this session, we will look at the Bridges model of Endings, Transition, and New Beginning and explore creativity tools that can help us with each of the stages. We will consider the model in light of personal changes (rather than team or organizational changes).

During the session, we will explore the model and then identify a part of our life where change is currently happening. We will talk about and apply creativity tools to help us “manage” these changes with sensitivity and effectiveness.

Personal changes might include such situations as:
  • Having a newborn in the house
  • Moving to a new location
  • Retiring
  • Working remotely
  • Finding a new job
  • Losing your job
  • Anything else that represents change for you during this pandemic

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • To explore a change model for personal change
  • To discover creativity tools that will help explore the change model
  • To use the change model with a change occurring in your personal life

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Intersecting the Change Model with Creativity tools will help you envision ways to change in a positive, productive way
  • Realizing that this change model and creativity tools can be used in any facet of your personal life
  • Show how creativity tools can really become life tools that can be used daily

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Practice will show how the model and creativity tools can be used whenever change occurs in life, especially during this pandemic crisis
  • An easy model for understanding change that can be applied in powerful ways on personal situations
  • Applying creativity tools to personal change

Join Mallory Combemale, Co-Founder of Inheritance Project for a 60-min exploration of your identity, heritage personal history. We will begin to unpack your unique inheritance, peel back the layers of beliefs that make you who you are and explore how this shapes the way you approach creative problem solving and collaboration. Start your journey of self-discovery with our free online workbook: http:;//www.inheritanceproject.org/workbook.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?

  • Feel empowered to collaborate with diverse teams with confidence

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • We live and work in more diverse environments than ever before, and yet are more divided than ever. Afraid of offending, we avoid potentially challenging conversations with those from different backgrounds, evade conflict and allow negative dynamics to fester unaddressed, and miss out on opportunities to learn, connect and grow. We hope you will leave with increased curiosity about your unique inheritance story and that of those you work with, as well as practical tools to approach conversations about diversity, inclusion, identity and build trust with any group

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • The Inheritance Project models an approach to genuine trust building in diverse groups, which can be used by any leader or CPS facilitator to enhance collaboration in a group

About Mallory & Inheritance Project
Mallory is a Co-Founder of Inheritance Project, which helps communities bridge divides, build trust and communicate openly.  Our experiences encourage individual self-reflection and empower people to become the authors of their own story.  Inheritance Project is founded on the principle that in order to consciously create our future, we first have to understand our past.  Mallory is a Core Faculty Member at CPSI, teaching Tools & Techniques and worked for 5 years as a facilitator at the Deloitte Greenhouse, specializing in sessions on executive strategy, innovation and leadership team effectiveness. She has experience in ethnographic research, participatory design and multi-stakeholder engagement. Exploring the Agile Mindset
Organizations increasingly see self-directed teams as a strategic differentiator and their most important resource for developing sustained innovation. In a global environment characterized by hyper-competition, complexity, ambiguity, and volatility, organizational leaders are called upon to be facilitators of change, beginning with their teams. Organizations are best positioned to innovate when leaders and teams learn how to cultivate and maximize their diversity of thinking, which requires insight into individual creative motivation and expression.

This immersive workshop examines the relationship between the Creative Problem Solving preferences of clarification, ideation, development, and implementation, the Social Style behaviors of assertiveness, responsiveness, and versatility, and the principles of organizational agility.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • We will deep dive into recent research on the linkage between thinking style and behavioral styles.
  • You will discover a radical new way to build agile teams.
  • You will learn how your team’s natural creative rhythm and flow can be enhanced by properly flexing communication styles during the collaborative process.
How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • You will come away with a richer understanding of your creative preferences and those of your team, and how those preferences  influence people’s communication styles -- for better or worse
How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • You will leave with a cheat sheet of behavioral and communication “tells” to interpret positive and toxic conflict in the wild.

Note: This session will be using Mural. Check out our practice Mural board ahead of the session to be ready to participate! https://bit.ly/CPSIMural

We also encourage all interested attendees to familiarize themselves with Mural before the session. Here are two 2-minute tutorials worth watching.

Insights are the human inspiration for creativity and ideas. But what is an insight? And how can we discover more of them as an individual or as an organization?

  • The seven simple “habits” to help you instantly become more insightful.

What? I am Listening!
Hearing is only one part of listening. In this active experience participants will practice going beyond words and tuning into what someone means. Through silly trust-building, anti-listening and application of true connection we will engage in practice to help us all listen with our whole self.

The technique focused on in this session is motivational interviewing (MI), an evidence-based communication skill that helps evoke intrinsic motivation. Using MI can effectively support communication by encouraging a deeper understanding of one’s views and ideas for change. In this session everyone will learn about what MI is, how we can use it to successfully listen and support others in making positive change possible.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Define motivational interviewing.
  • Explore successful listening.
  • Experience aspects of motivational interviewing that can improve listening.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Participants will be able to identify when they are NOT using successful listening skills.
  • Participants will be able to compare emotional exchange when using skills of MI versus when using other styles of communication.
  • Participants will identify self-perceptions of others and examine internal judgements that may get in the way of positive communication.

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Participants will be able to apply attributes of MI in future conversations when discussing change.
  • Participants will be able to set intentions for methods used in challenging conversations.
  • Participants will be able to seek additional areas of development to strengthen listening skills.
