This session will explore the relationship between magic and the vision and re-vision of creativity. Magic exemplifies how the perception or vision of an event or experience is frequently different than anticipated and varies from person to person. We will offer you an opportunity to begin a journey into an interesting and challenging pursuit. The session will be structured to insure your success in performing several magic tricks that require minimal skill and practice. Following this program you should be able to begin amazing friends and family members.
Please come to this session prepared with the following: A deck of cards, preferably one with a picture or pattern on the backs
A 3-foot (approximately) piece of rope or thick yarn
2 medium sized rubber bands - preferably different colors
A small juice glass
A handkerchief
A cloth napkin or small towel.
Participants will:
- Learn five to ten magic tricks that can be applied in a variety of learning, teaching and social settings.
- Explore the relationship between magic and creativity.
- Examine magic as it relates to the concepts of creative vision and re-vision,
- Have an opportunity to practice several magic tricks.
- Review guidelines for performing magic.
- Have fun.
