Young Inventors Club: Morning Makerspace and Idea Lab

This event is designed for YouthWise participants, ages 8 to 13. 

In this session, participants will engage in design thinking and brainstorming activities with the goal of creating an invention by re-conceptualizing something that already exists in the world. Participants will engage in solving problems, taking risks, and communicating their ideas through the completion of hands-on invention activities.
 
MATERIALS FOR PARENTS: Be on the lookout for an email PDF  – please print the SCAMPER sheet and gather any necessary household items listed prior to the meeting.
 
What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
·         You will have fun by participating in experiential, hands-on activities
·         You will make sense of problems and persevere in solving them
·         You will brainstorm, take risks, and think up out new ideas—no matter how strange
How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
·         Realize that there are inventions all around us—we can make more when we need them!
How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
·         Learn how to be a creative problem solver
· Apply this way of thinking to other problems that you encounter in your life, your community, and the world
