The Futures Wheel: Exploring the Consequences of Change

Do you have a future-oriented solution that you would like to develop and strengthen?  Would you like to identify and prepare for the potential consequences of future changes, trends or events? The “futures wheel” is a divergent thinking tool that can be used to broadly explore the potential implications of future changes and how they might evolve in the future.  Considering these implications allow one to strengthen and future-proof their solutions, strategies and plans.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Learn the basic principles of the futures wheels and when to use it
  • Practice divergence and convergence with the futures wheel on at least one scenario
  • Be able to prioritize and reframe future implications into issues or opportunities that require action

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  •  Understand that they can prepare for future changes.
  • Address their biases on how they expect the future to evolve.
  • Develop and broaden their future mindset. 

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  •  Consider future implications in the development of new ideas. 
  • Strengthen solutions, strategies and plans with a future mindset.
  • Be able to better prepare for uncertainty and future change.
