No Toga Required: Finding Your Inner Philosopher

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Remember when you were young, and you reveled in asking big questions? Were you that kid who wanted to know about life, the universe, and everything? In this session, we'll rekindle that spark of inquiry and bravely ask things for which there isn't just one answer. We'll explore the role of philosophy in the 21st century, and not only play with philosophical questions, but discuss practical ways in which we can use them to grow, both personally and professionally. We’ll practice asking questions in a way that really opens up dialogue, and find ways to disagree peacefully. Above all else, we’ll take pleasure in “Why”, the way we did when we were small.

What will you learn or experience as a result of this program or session?
  • Find joy in asking philosophical questions.
  • Apply philosophical questions to real world problems.
  • Practice inquiry techniques that are inclusive.

How might the content of this program or session change your perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view on the world?
  • Asking "why" isn't just for small children.
  • Philosophy is an ancient practice, but it's making a strong comeback.
  • Philosophy is practical, and more than just "navel gazing."

How might you apply what you learn or experience in this program or session?
  • Think critically about the masses of information we're bombarded with.
  • Become a more effective team member and leader.
  • Get more out of conversations and dialogue.
